i have the clk-ctl setting on my abit kt7a-raid. but i'm pretty sure it came with the recent bios versions. try upgrading the bios if you've not done so already.

i might give opera a shot i have ie 6 and netscape 6.1. ie is pretty good, i really notice any differences save the better looking desktop icon :) netscape is ok, but i'm not switching from ie long-term.
