I've used the S3TC hack on OpenGL. Man, I wish I had that back. :( It was just too damn cool. The textures were amazingly detailed compared to the default ones (i think 512x512 at "High" detail?). The greyscale "bump" texture that appears when you look up close to a wall just doesn't compare at all.

Yep. It's all in the camera. You can play around with the terrain all you want, but you're not gonna get a pic worth a piece of crap if it is shot from an angle which clips (is inside part of the terrain) or shows the edge of the "world". Quite finicky. But it can make some b00tiful pics if done...

I read from this page, that graphite has a significant potential for thermal transfer when the heat is forced to conduct in a direction parallel to the crystal layers. Is it expensive to make this happen? Cause I wanna know if it would make a good heatsink ;) ;)

I guess we could rule out V-sync then, because it would be hitting a ceiling of 85 if V-sync was the case. Turning on V-sync tells the video card to wait until the next monitor refresh to send out the next frame. It causes some tiny lag, but produces a smooth flow of imagery, instead of...
