Anyone buying an Abit KR7A or similar, look out for this.....

I started putting my new rig together and found that the Northbridge heatsink was a little loose. One of the cheapo clip/pins was deformed at the tip and would not keep tension. I had some better pins with nice springs on that would keep the tension nice. The stock Abit pins are the ones without...

    top 10 hard drives

The 60GXP's had a few problems, but not near the problems of the 75GXP's. The big stink now is the 120GXP's are only rated for 333hrs. use per month........ See this link here for more info: http://www.viahardware.com/ibm120gxp.shtm I still would not get an IBM drive until these...

    top 10 hard drives

Sorry to disagree......... I only buy Maxtor drives. So far, they are the only ones that have not let me down. From my old 4.3GB up to 3 current D740X 60giggers that kick butt. I admit, the IBM will be a tad faster, but are prone to failure lately (over the last 14 months....). Western...

    My new rig overview......

Memory on the 7500 is 64mb DDR. I'm not a big gamer, more graphics worker, so the 7500 should do for a while........ at least 6 months!:D Fury - I'm hoping to get to 2000+ speeds!!! That may be shooting high, but I should be able to hit 1900+ speeds fairly easily.... I hope!!!

    My new rig overview......

Well, I'm to cheap for anything more than dial up, especially since I have broadband at work so the modem was kind of a compromise..... WinXP cost me $5 from the university!;) The Santa Cruz is older, but it is still one of the tops. I've sworn off soundblaster due to past troubles...

    160 GB Hard Drive/Maxtor

WOW! That 160 sounds nice! I just installed a nice 80GB Maxtor 7200rpm in our server at work. It is real nice and full already! But BD, two 80GB 7200rpm drives in RAID 0 would total 160GB and would only be a shade over $310.00!!!:D I've got room in mine yet................. (2) 30GB...
