    How risky is it...

It's slightly risky, but I've done it several times. The main risk you run is crunching your core when removing and applying the heatsink. I've found that it's helpful (if you're nervous) to have someone else hold the HS in place while you go about removing and attaching the clips. Either...

Ted - Mom - :retard: Me - Seriously, the little shitbird won't sleep for more than 45 minutes at a time, even though there's nothing wrong with him. I can't WAIT until he gets through this phase.

    Perpetual Welcome Thread

Hey, howdy, everyone. Nope, not a tech by trade, although I build about 20 systems a year and sell 'em as a small side business. Actually, I'm a lowly accountant by day. No, you can't call me at home with those questions, either. :p AS for the flogging, do your worst!

    Now, that was interesting...

Well, they said on the newsgroup that they were gonna start mixing up the gene lengths, and they weren't screwing arouund. I've seen the 12 AA, one in the 30', one in the 40's, one in the 50's, 60's, and 90's all in this past week.

    Memory

Basically, it's speed, pin structure, and bandwidth. PC100 - 164 pin DIMM, meant to run at a front side bus speed of 100 MhZ. PC133 - 164 pin DIMM, meant to run at a FSB of 133 MhZ. DDR RAM - 184 pin Dimms. These run at either 100 Mhx (PC 1600) or 133 MhZ (PC2100), but they transmit...

    400 watt power supply

Because I bought it to go with Unc's new Tyan dual T-bird board, but that board requires a 24 pin ATX interface, rather than the usual 20 pin. I had to go track down a special PS.

    Now, that was interesting...

My athy classic normally does 2-3 units over a 24 hour period, depending on the AA size. I transmit each night (usually). Last night, it had over 20 genes ready and waiting. WHOA! So, I sat there to see the length of the gene it had been working on. 12 AA's! Anyone seen one smaller?
